International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code: General Awareness
Programme Details
This is the entry level training for the International Maritime Dangerous Goods - IMDG Code training and certification programme.
At the end of the programme,
participants will be able to:
- Explain the
international provisions and guidelines for the safe transport and
handling of dangerous goods by sea
- Describe the various
parts of the IMDG Code
- List the cases of
dangerous goods and the basic hazards associated
- Identify the columns in
the dangerous goods list and indicate where to obtain detailed information
in the code
- Briefly explain the
exceptions available
- Describe how packages
have to marked and labeled and the types of CTUs marking and placarding
requirements
- List the documents
required when handling and transporting dangerous goods
- Describe how dangerous
goods has to be declared and the need for certification
- Briefly describe the
function of stowage and the importance of segregation of incompatible
dangerous goods
